Thanks for the offer, but it's going to be literally a pure self destruct mission of win. If I cancel the accounts and leave everything as is I will be tempted to come back, and I can't have that, so I want the satisfaction of watching all my work go "pop" by my own hand.

It is a shame, I've really enjoyed EVE and it's not something I really want to do, but to continue giving CCP monies after this is something I can't do. No Dust 514 for me either even though I was looking forward to that :S

I'd say there is a third camp between the "get rid of it" and "we must keep it" groups. I don't think it' needs to go away, but removing the insurance payouts for CONCORD losses would go a long way toward curbing the problem of random ganks and make the "criminals" put some thought into what they're doing.

It's possible the upcoming changes to insurance will be a start to this, but I still think losses to CONCORD ought to be treated differently than other losses.

I didn't really mean High-Sec being safe 100% seriously, hence the quote marks. Were I in control I would remove suicide ganking completely as I do see it as bordering on an exploit of the mechanics, however all I'm really asking for is the system to be changed in order to discourage it more and if possible to reduce the massively negative impact upon those who are victim to it.

I also have to disagree quite strongly with the statement that they are being punished, the loss the gankers suffers is clearly no punishment at all as otherwise they wouldn't be doing it right?

I can only imagine the state of the game if we all set ourselves up suicide ganking instead of doing other things.

I have sometimes feeling there is hidden trouble in what people think about high-sec. High-sec is not safe any bit more as low- or null-sec. High-sec just contains guys with sticks to punish for crime. It is not supposed to be "safe", it just has added punishment. It is quite difference. While suicide-ganking can be seen as low, it is in reality just a criminal act being punished. And if I follow dev blogs right, insurance system get changed soon in order to give suicide ganking better defined borders. Better defined borders, not to eliminate it.

Hey CK, thanks for stopping by and reading. I've had the subscription time thing fixed (thank god) though I'm still in limbo on the reimbursements.

Waiting on a response from a Senior GM at the moment, hopefully I can get at least the loss in Jita restored, that would be good enough for me tbh. But I'll let you know how it goes when I have any news.

Aye, I'm honestly not too hopeful and that makes me more than a bit sad as I definitely enjoy EVE and really do not want to quit. But I simply can't accept this sort of thing and so will have to quit if nothing is done, otherwise my play experience will always be tainted by this experience.

Possibly overly dramatic, but I have my principles and I stick to them.

Nah, the others alliance members in the system saw them in local fine, just my client losing sync or something I guess.

I have since posting this received a response from CCP for both that loss and the suicide gank loss in Jita (where my client was frozen forever) in that they won't restore anything. I find that unacceptable to be honest, I don't really mind losing things to my own fault but this is ridiculous.

Also since posting this the 2 weeks or so subscription time on that account has vanished. I mean literally, sub time 0d0h0m, and so I can't login. No response from CCP yet about this at all.

Very angry, and not trying to be dramatic but seriously considering quitting completely now.

I myself, am one of the "not haves". So, this change will not effect me negatively at all, and make scanning down targets easier....

However, I am 100% positive if I were one of the "do haves"... I would be completely up in arms.

Hey rantuket, I actually posted a small update on this a couple of days after in the post titled "Power Profits!" (http://labutopia.blogspot.com/2010/04/power-profits.html).

So far, with quite light playing/trading, since I started testing the program I've made over 1.5bil actual profit. And when I say light play I mean light, wife and 2 kids makes anything else difficult.

I'll be trying it solidly next week I hope, and we'll see how it performs then!
